Work As Unto The Lord

According to this Scripture verse, whatever work we do is to be done, heartily, as to the Lord and not to men  It goes on to say that from the Lord we will receive the reward of the inheritance, for we serve the Lord Christ.

Whatever work we do for our Lord Jesus is never in vain. He sees everything. The Lord has called all of us to carry the message of Jesus. Through Him, we are given a sphere of influence, with the concept of eternal life in our hearts. We are to do our work as one called to glorify the Lord.  Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.  In I Corinthians 10:31,  “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Whether we’re paid or not, we are encouraged to do our tasks as unto the Lord. He rewards the work of our hands, and His rewards go above and beyond any kind of payment received from man.

Jesus said, “I see when a sparrow falls.” If He notices the birds, how much more will He take notice of us? He sees everything that concerns us, and everything we have been given. Jesus sees what we do for Him. No sacrifice – small or huge is never in vain. And He also rewards the works done in secret. The work we do for others, just because we care.

We are commissioned to save souls. The field is ripe for the kingdom of God but the workers are few. Our business is to be Jesus to other people, to show His love, greatness, and power. Mark 16:15 (NIV) says, “Go into the world and preach the good news to all creation.” This gives hope as we go forth and do all our work as unto the Lord.

Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times I did my work to please man and not You. I am capable of doing better and will strive to do whatever work being done as unto the Lord, as the Bible says I’m to do.

    • You’re welcome. God wants to be involved in all that we do and that includes our work. The Bible says, He will bless the work of our hands.
