Tithing With An Attitude Of Gratitude

I’m an avid YouTube watcher. I love watching podcasts that encourage me how to be a good steward of my finances.  Frugal Money Saver, is one of my favorites. The program encourages viewers to live within their means, and gives tips and ways on how it can be done. Viewers are also encouraged to be generous and give to those in need.

Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 9:6-8: Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Yes; we instructed to give cheerfully, and not out of compulsion. Did notice the word “tithe” is not in this verse?

Many Christians today believe that giving a 10th of their income and increase to the Lord in worship is not required under the New Testament covenant. I’m openly stating, “I’m not one of them.”

The scripture image for this Blog post is taken from Proverbs 3:9-10. I have this verse underlined in my Bible. This verse speaks to me. So I honor the Lord with the first fruits of my income and any increases I receive. And I tithe with an attitude of gratitude. Why? Because God is the rightful owner of everything I have. He gives me the privilege of being a steward of what belongs to Him. When I tithe; give Him back 10, He makes the 90% leftover go farther than I could ever have imagined. God does what His Word says He will do. Many others like me; believe the same because we’ve experienced the blessings and benefits of being tithers.

It saddens me to see so many YouTube podcasts promoting tithing is unbiblical. Tithing is not just about money; God does not need our money. He is concerned with what’s in our hearts, and how we handle money tells Him a great deal about us.

I pray my message on tithing with an attitude of gratitude encourages you to think about what the Lord has blessed you with. Are you a good steward of what He’s given you? Do you tithe and/or give with an attitude of gratitude? Please know dear reader. God loves you and wants to bless you abundantly. It’s true, because His Word says so!
