God’s Benefits Must Never Be Forgotten

Psalm 103 is one of many written by King David. His great love for the Lord is displayed throughout the whole Psalm. He begins with, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name. Words of gratitude follow for what the Lord has done. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forgot not all His benefits.” Any time we see all in the Bible it means just that, not just some. David starts with this one.

Who forgives all your iniquities – that benefit alone speaks volumes. God forgives all of our sins. When we repent of our wrongdoings, God forgives us, and better yet; we read in Hebrews 8:12 that He will remember them no more. I love what is written in Micah 7:19 “And cast all of ours sins into the depths of the sea.” No matter how far we dive into this deep sea, our sin will NEVER be found. God forgives and forgets, we must do the same for others, including ourselves.

Who heals all your diseases – All diseases, not just some! In Psalm 30:2, David says, “O Lord my God, I cried to You, and You healed me.”  David cried out to the Lord for healing and God healed him, that’s all we need to know. God is no respecter of persons, what He did for David, He will do for us when we call upon His Name. The Bible is filled with healing promises that we can claim for ourselves. Nothing is impossible for the one whom believes.

Who redeems your life from the pit – David’s life was threatened on numerous occasions. He says in Psalm 56:13, “for You have delievered my soul from death, even my feet from stumbling,” This tells us that God spared David’s life and kept him from falling into the hands of his enemies. God redeems our lives from the pit as well. How many times has satan tried to lead in the wrong direction; to follow his ways, instead of God’s?  We are spared many times, yet may fail to give God credit for saving us from a disastrous situation. God spares us even in times we made a wrong decision. He loves us so much.

Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies – We are reminded of His tender mercies in Lamentations 3:22-23,” It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed; His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” God is so kind and merciful to us. When He wakes us up in the morning; He gives us an opportunity to start over. I love that about Him. We don’t have to stay stuck in the past, even if it was only yesterday  He will enable us to start over and try again, to do far better when we’re willing to do it His way.

Who satisfies your mouth with good things – A cross reference for this verse is Psalm 34:10, “The young lions are in want and suffer hunger, but the ones who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing.” Another promise is found in Psalm 84:11, “for no good thing will He withhold from the one who walks uprightly.” God satisfies our mouths with good things like food for our bodies, spiritual food for our souls, words of wisdom when required. He will satisfy the desires of our hearts because He put them them.

So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s – Isaiah 40:32 says, “but those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up on wings as easgles; they shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint.” Key words here are “wait upon the Lord.” Age is not a barrier with God. When things are done His way, He will give the strength and ability to accomplish whatever He asks. God will equip whomever He calls regardless of age. Moses is a prime example!

I encourage you to read all of Psalm 103 often.  Underline key verses and claim these benefits for yourself. Read  them out loud. Hear yourself speak them, as faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. When we read God’s benefits found in Psalm 103 often, we will never forget them.
