I love the Book of Proverbs because of the wisdom found within it. Many Christians read a chapter in Proverbs daily. With 31 chapters in Proverbs, one can easily read it through in a month. So imagine the amount of godly wisdom gained by reading and applying what is written in just Proverbs alone over the course of a year!
We need God’s wisdom to succeed in life. When we try to succeed on our own without God, we often fail, then question ourselves on what went wrong.
People pay a lot of money to hire a Life Coach. We have access to one for free. God is our Life Coach and He’s always available. No long wait time to access Him.
God’s wisdom is found throughout the whole Bible. Many life principles are found in the Book of Proverbs. I will share with you my favorite go-to Proverbs. The selected verses are taken from the Modern English or New Century versions for ease of understanding.
Co-signing
Proverbs 22:26 – Don’t promise to pay what someone else owes. If you cannot pay the loan, your own bed may be taken right out from under you.
Discipline
Proverbs 29:17 – Correct your children, and you will be proud; they will give you satisfaction.
Generosity
Proverbs 11:24-25 – Some people give much but get back more. Others don’t give what they should and end up poor. Whoever gives to others will get richer, those who help others will themselves be helped
Gossip
Proverbs 20-19 – Gossips can’t keep secrets, so avoid people who talk too much.
Guidance
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.
Friendship
Proverbs 18:24 – Some friends may ruin you, but a real friend will be more loyal than a brother.
Longevity
Proverbs 10-11 – The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For by Me your days will be multiplied, and the years of your life will be increased.
Pride
Proverbs 27:2 – Don’t praise yourself. Let someone else do it. Let the praise come from a stranger and not from your own mouth.
Protection
Proverbs 3:24-26 – When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror; nor of trouble form the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
Revenge
Proverbs 20:21 – Don’t say, “I’ll pay you back for the wrong you did.” Wait for the Lord, and he will make things right.
Rewards
Proverbs 24:12 – If you say, “We don’t know anything about this.” God, who knows what’s in your mind, will notice. He is watching you, and he will know. He will reward each person for what he has done.
Speech
Proverbs 21:22 – Those who are careful about what they say keep themselves out of trouble.
Success
Proverbs 16:3 – Depend on the Lord for whatever you do and your plans will succeed
Temptation
Proverbs 1:10, 15 – My child, if sinners try to lead you into sin, do not follow them. My child, do not go along with them, do not do what they do.
Tithing
Proverbs 3:9-10 – Honor the Lord with your substance, and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your presses will burst out with new wine.
Trust
Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don’t depend on your own understanding. Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success.
Wisdom
Proverbs 2:6-8 – For the Lord gives wisdom; out of His mouth come knowledge and understanding. He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly. He keeps the path of justice, and preserves the way of His saints. (Saints refers to believers in Jesus Christ).
What I included above is a tidbit of the godly wisdom found in the Book of Proverbs.
Proverbs 30:5 says, every word of God is true. I believe this with all my heart, and my prayer is that you, dear reader, will come to believe it too. I encourage you to delve into the Book of Proverbs and allow God to be your Life Coach. You will blessed beyond measure, and in ways you never conceived possible.
I agree with you about God being our life coach. God is the best life coach as His word says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made and He knows us the best. The best part of having God as our life coach is that there is no waiting or financial cost to talk with God. The Bible says in Jeremiah 33:3 that we just have to call to Him and He will answer and show us things that we do not know. I will revisit the book of Proverbs and let the Holy Spirit speak to me through Gods’ words. Great post Anne-Marie!
Hi Lincee, hope all is well with you. So happy you left a comment, it means a great deal to me. With God as our Life Coach, nothing will be impossible for us. Because with God, all things are possible! Praise the Lord!
Hi Annie
Thanks for the reminder, I love the book of proverbs also.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, a good place to start.
God bless you!
Mike
