My heart goes out to those waiting in desperation to get out of Afghanistan. Anyone who professes to be a Christians is in great danger, and realize what their fate will be if they don’t get out. Women and young girls know the horrors that await them should they remain. Time is running out for people to be evacuated, unless the Lord intervenes on their behalf. While preparing for this post I came across Nahum 1:7: “The Lord is good, a stronghold in a day of distress; and He cares for those who take refuge in Him.” God is their stronghold; their ever-present help in their time of need. Yes; their needs are great but so is our God.
God sees all, nothing escapes His eyes. He knows people are working tirelessly to get people out of Afghanistan. It would appear the odds are against them. The terrorist groups want total control making it more difficult to evacuate the thousands that want and need to get out of the country.
Believers know God can make a way when there appear to be no way. And what is impossible for man is possible for God. They know this to be true from the accounts found in the Bible, and from what God has done in and through their own lives.
God is Afghanistan’s only hope. They need a miracle and God is a miracle-working God. I love what is written in Exodus 34:10 (NLT), “The Lord replied, “Listen, I am making a covenant with you in the presence of all your people. I will perform miracles that have never been performed anywhere in all the earth or in any nation. And all the people around you will see the power of the Lord – the awesome power I will display for you.”
Will God perform miracles for those in Afghanistan? I believe He will. Prayers from across the world are going up on behalf of people stranded in Afghanistan. God hears the prayers of those calling out His Name in times of distress. He hears the prayers of the intercessors, of those coming before Him through prayer and fasting. God answers prayer in His time and way, and His timing is always perfect.
Those who are already evacuated will have an opportunity to share their testimony of God’s goodness, and how He miraculously worked on their behalf.
Thousands of people still in Afghanistan need our prayers. They need to know that others care about what happens to them and their families. They need to know God hears prayers and will do what is asked in Jesus’ Name.
Let’s pray. Lord, we come before You on behalf of those stranded in Afghanistan. We pray they will see You are a good God, and the stronghold in their time of distress. We pray they will see Your miracle-working power; that You will intervene on their behalf and provide help in ways that are only possible through You. We ask in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
The will of our Lord shall be done. However, with our combined prayers for a humanitarian outcome to this tragic situation, where the women and children of Afghanistan are spared from atrocities, we can affect the message of the Holy Spirit and thereby impact God’s will in this matter. Dear God, may you intervene with love and spare the Afghani masses from harm.
I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.
Thank you Chris for your comment. I agree with you in prayer, that the Lord will intervene with love and spare the Afghani masses from harm, in Jesus’ Name Amen.
Blessings,
Anne-Marie
