Job 8:21 says, “God will yet fill your mouths with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.”
I’m filled with joy just thinking that the God of the Universe longs to fill me and you to the brim with joy. Oh how He longs for all His children to be happy and joyful.
The Lord created the world we live in, and all that’s in it. I love rainbows, seeing one fills with joy. What brings you joy?
Joy can bubble up regardless of what’s happening around us. People lose homes and everything dear to them; yet be so full of joy for the Lord they can hardly contain it.
Does this imply they were happy about their situation? No, they chose to be joyful despite their circumstances because wallowing in self-pity wouldn’t change a thing, only add to the misery they were experiencing. Could it be they discovered for themselves the truth found in Nehemiah 8:10: “The joy of the Lord is your strength”?
Joy like laughter is contagious and draws others close like a magnet. People want to be around those who are joyful. Their positive attitude lifts our spirits and encourages us to face another day regardless of what it brings.
Let’s strive to fill our daily lives with joy and spread it around. Shouldn’t be too difficult since the Lord daily loads us with benefits, and ample opportunities to be joyful.
Lord, I thank You for giving us the fruit of the Spirit which includes joy. Your Word says, the joy of the Lord is my strength. I can draw on it wherever I’m in need. Amen
