Why We Gather On Good Friday

Churches around the world hold a special service on Good Friday. A time to gather together to commemorate the significance of Jesus’ death on the cross, and show gratitude for the sacrifice He made on this day.

Tears flowed freely by those who saw, The Passion Of The Christ, where scenes and sets were created to make the movie as realistic as possible. Now imagine the anguish and tears shed by Jesus’ mother and followers who witnessed this event firsthand. After all the suffering He endured; can you envision their reaction upon hearing Jesus say, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”

Jesus endured cruelty and death on the cross so mankind could be forgiven of their sins, be healed of every sickness and disease, and have an abundant life. Yes; Jesus paid it all, and we owe Him a debt of gratitude for what He willingly did for us.

Satan’s scheme to have Jesus crucified backfired, and he still tries to convince us he has power. Colossians 3:15 tells us differently: “God stripped the spiritual rulers and the powers of their authority.” Satan has no power; only what we choose to give him. Jesus paid an awesome price at Calvary. The moment satan hears the name, Jesus, he trembles and flees. Jesus gave us the Power of Attorney to use His name, so let’s use it.

Dear Jesus, I come before You with gratitude. Every year on Good Friday; I’m reminded of what You did for me. You willingly died on the cross at Calvary so I could be free of sin, be healed of every sickness and disease, and have an abundant life. You also stripped the spiritual rulers and the powers of their authority. You paid an awesome price for me and again I say, “thank you”.

    • Yes, Jesus became the sacrificial lamb for us. He paid it all on Calvary’s cross. The good news is; He is risen. He is alive
and lives forevermore. Praise the Lord, hallelujah!
