At church on Sunday morning, the pastor reiterated the importance of sharing the good news of the gospel with others, as Jesus commissioned His disciples in Mark 16:15.
Mark 16:15 is worded differently in various translation of the Bible. I provided two so you could see what I mean. Modern English Version (worded similar in the King James Version): He said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
The New Century Version: Jesus said to his followers, “Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone.
Simply stated, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the good news that’s to be shared in Mark 16:15. And the gospel of Jesus Christ is good news for everyone willing to believe it and receive it.
Some of us may hold back when we see the word “preach the gospel” because we don’t see ourselves as preachers. The good news is, I’m smiling as I type this, we’re not required to be preachers. Born-again believers of Jesus Christ can all share the good news of the gospel with everyone. It truly is as simple as that!
So what good news are believers in Christ commissioned to share with everyone?
Let’s start with God is Love
John 3:16: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Many assume heaven is an automatic destination but that’s not what the Bible says. It’s believers in Jesus Christ that go to heaven upon death and spend eternity with Him.
Share the good news that salvation is a free gift from God to those willing to receive it by faith. Share the benefits of being a born-again Christian. Share from your heart what God has done for you. How He’s healed your body, how He has provided when there was a need; how He protected you or a loved one from danger, how He gave you peace during a time of turmoil, how He gave you wisdom when you didn’t know what to do.
Our testimony stories will be different but the good news is, they all point to a loving heavenly Father, and His amazing Son, Jesus Christ who came into the world so we would have a life free from sin, and all the curses that go with it. He came that we would have life, and have it more abundantly. Read the Bible and find these truths for yourself.
I encourage you – go and tell the good news of the gospel to everyone who will listen.
