I enjoy listening to Mario Murillo. He’s a gifted evangelist and preaches solely on biblical truths. Recently, my mind wondered off while he was speaking, and I only caught the tail end of a scripture he was sharing, “rest for your souls.” It was a familiar passage of scripture, but at the moment I couldn’t recall the whole verse. A quick search took me to Matthew 11:28-29. Yes, I love that verse, and believe God had a purpose for bringing it to my attention.
Several months ago, my pastor gave me a prophetic word from the Lord concerning my book, God Said, “I WILL” The Lord said, “The book is in My hands and I will make it go far and wide.” These prophetic words filled me with joy, and gave assurance that what I was praying for would come to pass.
I’m still waiting for the fulfillment on that prophetic word. Yes; God gave me a promise. But the promise did not say when. No specific time frame was given. I know the Lord will honor His Word. He says in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall My word be that goes forth from my Mouth; it shall not return void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
As I write this message today, the Lord brought to my mind what is written in Isaiah 49:23, “Then you will know I am the Lord. Anyone who trusts in me will not be disappointed.”
I love how the Lord speaks through His Word. It’s like He’s telling me, “The prophetic word given to you will come to pass in My time and way. Trust Me!”
”Yes, Lord, You are faithful to keep Your Word. I will put my trust in You.”
God had a purpose for having me look up Matthew 11:28-29. Let’s read it again. “Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
What a beautiful verse to tuck into our hearts. Jesus invites all who are weary and burdened to come to Him. He tells us to learn from Him, follow His ways, then we will find rest for our souls. In other words, rest for our minds, our wills, and our emotions. God’s kind of rest brings peace into all areas of our lives.
Time is of no essence to God. We can rest and trust in God; knowing that whatever we are waiting on Him for; will come to pass in His time and way. Amen
