Scripture verses on peace makes it obvious, the Lord desires we have peace in our lives. Colossians 3:15 (NIV) says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your heart.” This implies we play a role in experiencing peace. The choice is ours. If God wants us to obey His commandments and have peace, He will enable us to attain it.
When doubts or worries threaten to steal our peace we can focus on the truths found in the Bible about our situation. Peace is possible no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, whether they be good times or bad.
Jesus said in John 14:27, “I leave you peace; my peace I give you, I do not give it to you as the world does. So don’t let your hearts be troubled or afraid.” This is so profound; Jesus is giving us His peace, it’s a gift, all we have to do is receive it.
I love the Hebrew word for peace – shalom. With shalom of God we receive wholeness, nothing missing – nothing broken.
Thank you Lord for giving us the Bible which contains Your directions on how to live peaceful lives. So often we struggle when we don’t have to. The road back to peace leads us to You, where true peace exists.
