We read in this version of Hebrews 13:16 that we’re to share what we have. Other translations say to share with those in need. Either way, God considers our giving sacrifices, and is pleased with our efforts to be generous.
God is generous beyond measure. Imagine the smile on His face when we share because we want to bless others, whether they are in need or not. Imagine giving so much that God has a perpetual smile on His face!
I’m grateful my husband and I like minded when it comes to giving. We understand the meaning of 2 Corinthians 9:7-8 that says,” So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” Did you notice it says all, not some? What an amazing promise from God.
We also understand why Jesus said, “It’s more blessed to give than receive.” Because it’s true. It’s joyful to bless others, especially when they are not expecting it. People are told God will provide, without fully knowing how He will do it. God knows the need, and the people who are able and willing to give towards whatever is needed. It’s wonderful to hear these testimony stories over and over again.
Some people are generous with their time, and are quick to volunteer when a need arises. Others volunteer on a regular basis in their church or other organizations. Opportunities to volunteer are endless, and there’s something for everyone regardless of age.
Yes; generosity makes God smile. We can make Him smile every day. Regardless of what we have, we have something to sacrifice, something to share that pleases God.
