My husband does not pastor a church but he is an ordained minister, and together we have a singing ministry. We have great appreciation for the men of God in our lives. We greatly enjoyed this book by Gary Johnson, and found it beneficial to take turns reading it out loud so nothing got missed.
Gary Johnson is gifted teacher of the Word and strives to impart godly wisdom and knowledge into the heart of his readers. He does a phenomenal job in The Man With The Seven Hearts. I agree with the author, this book needs to become a vital part of every minister’s library. The book provides seven different heart motivations necessary for success in ministry.
I was amazed by the wealth of biblical information shared in the Introduction. A wonderful explanation is given for the purpose of the four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. I love to learn, and was delighted to discover how the Holy Spirit is expressed in seven different ways, and where to find this in the Bible. The author believes the heart of the man of God must be looked at from seven different aspects, and to be successful must possess all seven.
The book has seven chapters, showing the objective for each heart motivator:
The CRAFTSMAN will show how to look beyond the foolish, weak and despised.
The BUSINESSMAN teaches us how to get a return on our investments.
THE SHEPHERD demonstrates what it means to die for what you believe in.
THE CARPENTER comes with a plan that can put all the pieces together.
THE SOLDIER is totally focused on his task.
THE ATHELETE totally committed to his goal.
THE FARMER has one thing on his mind – HARVEST!
The man of God who wants to excel in what God called him to do needs to read this book. It’s easy to read and understand. Gary Johnson uses Scriptures and life experiences to reveal what is required to attain each of these heart motivators. It’s understandable that to acquire all seven takes time, but so worth the effort required to achieve them.
