God is Love. We know this is true by reading His Word. The book of John has been called the love chapter. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Love of this magnitude can only come from God. The Bible is filled with scriptural promises on what the Lord will do when we choose to invite Jesus into our heart. Salvation provides the way to spend eternity in heaven. Love gives us the ability to live peacefully on this earth as we strive to love others as God does. At salvation, we are recreated into the image of God, and we become Love. We need to read I Corinthians 13:4-8 often; and take to heart all that it entails. The last line of the verse reminds us that God’s love never fails.
Christmas is God’s gift of Love, and His name is Jesus. He is the true reason for celebrating Christmas. Because of His great love; the gift of eternal life is given to whosoever believes in Him.
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of Jesus, whose birth is celebrated at Christmastime. He is the reason for the season. Those whom believe in Him will have eternal life; a gift, like Your love that never fails.
