God Fills Our Mouths With Laughter

My Aunt Christina was a favorite in our family. She was funny and had a wonderful sense of humor. Just being around her for a short time put a smile on your face. Numerous times, I left her house grinning from ear-to-ear over something funny she had said.

The Lord gave us the ability to laugh and since we’re created in His likeness, it only stands to reason that He laughs too.  Laughter is joyful.  He wants His children to be blessed, to be happy, and He takes great delight in us.

Christina was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 47 and had her breast removed. She battled this disease for an additional 12 years until her death on May 12, 1998. She laughed and enjoyed life despite her illness. Her positive attitude enabled her to look at the bright side of life. Her joy of life ended in sadness for us when she died, but she will never be forgotten. We still laugh over the funny things she said.

Heaven will be filled with joy, laughter, and music. There we will we sing, laugh, and be full of joy with the Lord. Laughter is contagious, and we should spread it around as often as we can while we’re still on the earth. Proverbs 17:22 says a merry heart does good like a medicine. Give a good dose of laughter to those you encounter today.

Can you envision the Lord wiping the tears away that run down your face from laughter? It makes me smile just thinking about it.

Thank you Lord for filling my mouth with laughter and my lip with shouts of joy. I don’t have to keep this gift to myself; I can use it to bring joy and laughter into the lives of others.

    • Yes, I love to laugh and be filled with the joy of the Lord. He gives us strength like no other, and many reasons to be joyful. I’m sure the Lord laughs at us too why what we say and do.
