Colossians 3:20 says, “Children, obey your parents in all things; for this is well pleasing to the Lord.”
Since God is our heavenly Father, out of respect for Him, we ought to obey and do all He teaches in His Word. Not only does He teach us, but enables and provides all that’s needed to be successful in life. Yes, the Bible contains commandments from God stating we are to obey Him. He also tells us why. Along with James 1:25, I’ve selected Scripture verses where obedience brings forth multiple blessings from the Lord.
Job: 36:11 – If they obey and serve Him, they will spend the rest of their days in prosperity and their years in contentment.
Psalm 112:1-3 – Praise the Lord! How joyful are those who fear the Lord and delight in obeying his commands. Their children will be successful everywhere; an entire generation of godly people will be blessed. They themselves will be wealthy, and their good deeds will last forever.
Jeremiah 7:23 – But this what I commanded them, saying, ‘Obey My voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be My people. And walk in all the ways that I have commanded you that it may be well with you.’
I John 3:22 – And whatever we ask, we will receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.
Romans 2:13 – For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.
Revelation 22:14 – Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
God loves us so much, He wants to protect us from the world that tries to convince us it’s alright to sin and disobey God. The world is filled with people that believe a godly life is a boring one. What a lie! Being obedient to God brings peace, joy, and love into our lives. God’s children are promised provision, protection and forgiveness of sins. The Bible is filled with God’s promises for those that choose to obey Him. Yes; God’s children still experience trials and challenges like everyone else. But Psalm 37:19 says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” I love that word all, it covers everything.
We have to aware of Satan, he is the father of lies. No truth is found in him. His main goal is to kill steal, and destroy all the Lord has created including His children. Daily he temps people to disobey God, and is filled with glee when victorious. We are assured; God will never leave or abandon us; He is our constant help in times of trouble. Thank God for His mercy. He knows we are not perfect; and is quick to forgive when we repent, and ask forgiveness for our sins.
Obeying God is worth everything it takes to resist what the world offers, which is nothing compared to what God offers. When we obey and do what is written in the Bible; we will be blessed with a godly lifestyle, one that pleases and honor God.
I encourage you to read the Bible daily; and discover for yourself how good God truly is, and the blessings given to those that obey His Word.

There is no life like serving the Lord!
