Don’t Let Your Hearts Be Troubled

There are days where our hearts are troubled. I had one this morning while doing devotions. Tears filled my eyes while reading passages of Scriptures. The Lord led me to look up John 14:1. Jesus is saying, “Don’t let not your heart be troubled.” By saying “don’t let” He is implying that we have a choice over what we allow to trouble our hearts. Jesus’ words are true, we be wise to heed them.

The media is all its forms ensures we know we’re living in perilous times. Often what is shared is beyond our control. Fear rises when people don’t know what to do. The Lord does not want us to burden our hearts with matters that trouble us or make is afraid.

A simple truth is found from reading God’s Word: what concerns us, concerns Him. John 14:1 is an affirmation. Jesus is telling us: “Don’t let your heart be troubled.” Then He goes on to say, “Trust in God, trust in Me.” He’s giving us an open invitation to bring whatever is causing our hearts to be troubled over to Him. He’s saying trust in the Father, trust in Me. He wants us to enter His rest, where peace resides. He freely gives, all we have to do is receive it.

What should we do when our hearts are troubled? Remind ourselves of what is written in John 14:1. Another verse to memorize is John 14:27: “Peace I leave you, my peace I give you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Romans 10:17 says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. We don’t have to allow anything to cause our hearts be troubled or afraid. We can put our faith, hope, and trust in God. The Bible is filled with promises of His love, care, and concern for His children. Immerse yourself in the Word and discover these promises, your life will be forever changed.

Lord, I thank You for guiding me to John 14:1. I pray that those reading this message are blessed by what You put on my heart to share. We don’t have to allow the cares of this world trouble our hearts. When we put our trust in You, we can have peace and rest.  You’re fully capable of taking care of whatever comes our way. Amen
