I’ve a mature Christian and the Lord knows I love to learn through books. Over the years He has placed many wonderful books in my path. Books written by Christian men and women across the world whom openly share their faith and biblical knowledge on a variety of importance topics including biblical prosperity. So I’m well acquainted with what the bible teaches on prosperity. Is there more for me learn? You bet.
Many people don’t fully understand what the Bible teaches on prosperity thus form the wrong conclusions. Many negative comments are directed at those who preach on biblical prosperity and Kenneth Hagin is among them.
Kenneth Hagin had a ministry that spanned over 70 years so he possessed a wealth of wisdom and knowledge on the topic of biblical prosperity. I believe it was wise of him to release The Midas Touch – A Balanced Approach To Biblical Prosperity in the latter years of his life.
An opening sentence on the back cover is: Have You Ever Wished That Everything You Touched Turned To Gold? This was the desire of the mythical King Midas who wanted this very thing but when he got what he wanted, soon discovered he didn’t want what he got.
Kenneth Hagin does a phenomenal job in explaining what can happen to Christians who follow unscriptural teachings that can lead them into either a “poverty mentality” or an unhealthy focus on money and things. Both are dangerous ditches on the road of life. Emphasis is given to following a balanced middle of the road biblical approach.
What he writes on prosperity is backed up by Scripture. He writes in a clear, easy to understand style that includes good old common sense. Many stories are shared from his many years of international ministry. The stories speak for themselves and enables the reader to think about their own lives and what it means to be prosperous in a biblical sense. Yes, God does delight in the prosperity of His servants as stated in Psalm 35:27.
I highly recommend this book for new and mature Christians alike. It doesn’t matter that it was written 25 years ago. It’s based on God’s Word, and His Word is still the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
