The Lord Granted Me Another Birthday!

The Lord chose April 5, 1955 to bring me into the world. I had no say in the date; I had no say in whom my parents would be; I had to say as to where I would begin my journey on this earth. I thankful to the Lord for many things, especially today as I get to celebrate my 67th birthday. That is a true blessing, and one I don’t take for granted.

There was many Scripture verses that speak of God’s promises over my life, and I have many favorites. Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me.” That’s so exciting. No age limit is given with that promise. That tells me, God still has great things in store for me to do to advance His Kingdom. Today; He is giving me the opportunity to use my gift of writing to spread the good news of the gospel around the world. That is just simply amazing. Because of the Internet; my words are spread far and wide.It is my prayer that they bless and encourage the ones who read them.

I’ve come to understand the meaning of Proverbs 16:3 as written in the NCV translation: “Depend on the Lord for whatever you do; and your plans will succeed.” Yes; my plans do succeed but in God’s time and way. Sometimes success comes in ways that I did not consider. God knows me best; and His thoughts and ways are far higher than mine. He is God; He knows everything and that’s all I need to concern myself with.

Another beautiful promise is found in Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” I’m still here so I can hope for the future; that God will continue to bless the work of my hands.

I smile when I read Psalm 92:13-14; “Those that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be filled with vitality an foliage; to show that the Lord is upright.”

Thank you Lord for granting me another birthday. Not only do I plan to celebrate it today; but in the days to come. Each new day is a blessing with an opportunity to say. “This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.”

For others celebrating April 5th birthdays, may the fruit of the Spirit as written in Galatians 5:22-23 be filled to overflowing in your life. May God bless your day and year with His goodness! Amen
