A friend on Facebook shared Scriptures passages from Job 22. I’ve read this chapter numerous times but today Job 22:28 jumped out at me. It reiterated again the importance of making decrees or declarations based on the promises of God found in the Bible.
Let’s look at two other Bible translations of this verse to see how it is worded:
Amplified: “You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you; And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways.
New King James: You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.
Job 22:28 is telling us of the power found in the words we speak.
God said so Himself in Isaiah 55:11: Here’s how it reads in the New Living Translation: It is the same with my word. I send it out, and it always produces fruit. It will accomplish all I want it to, and it will prosper everywhere I send it.
This is all from the Old Testament. God’s Word never changes. The power of words is found in the New Testament too.
Let’s look at what Jesus says in Mark 11:23 in the New Century Version: I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, fall into the sea.’ And if you have no doubts in your mind and believe that what you say will happen, God will do it for you.
Did you catch, you can say to this mountain? Yes; it what’s we say.
I have a book written by Charles Capps titled God’s Creative Power. In it Charles Capps shares a profound statement he received from Jesus while teaching. “I have told my people they can have WHAT THEY SAY, but they are SAYING WHAT THEY HAVE.”
What did Jesus mean? People are saying what they have, instead of what God’s Word says about the matter. During times of illness, we declare that by Jesus’ stripes we are healed. During times of financial lack, we declare, my God will supply my every need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. We’re doing what is written in Romans 4:17, call things that do not exist as though they did.
Life is full of challenges no matter our age. Be encouraged. There’s a solution to be found through the pages of the Bible.
The Bible is filled with over 7,000 promises made by God. I included many of them in my God Said, “I WILL” Promise Book.
I’m an avid believer in the power of words. Along with reading my Bible, I read books and listen to teachings by Christian men and women who enable me to believe what God says in His Word to be true.
It’s true, faith comes by the hearing and hearing of the Word of God. So let’s build our faith by declaring out loud with our own voice what we believe base on God’s Word, what He will do for us. That He will establish it for us, because God will always do what He says! Amen
