Let Christ’s Peace Rule Our Hearts

My husband I arose early this morning and had our coffee in the living room with the fireplace on. Now that it’s Christmastime, we enjoy the festive look of the lighted garland on the fireplace mantle, and the brilliant white lights on the Christmas tree. Oh how we love our peaceful home, and are grateful to God for everything we have.

We finished our coffee and had morning devotions. Time spent with the Lord is important to us before the busyness of the day unfolds.

Life can give us lessons that enable us to immediately put them into practice. I was given one this morning. Let me tell you about it.

I got quite a surprise when looked inside the upright freezer. Some salmon along with a lot of meat had thawed. I called my husband Mike to come and see. After a quick check we knew it was not electrical.

My heart sank when I realized what happened. Last evening, after putting a large tub of ice-cream back into freezer, the door had not completely closed. I had walked away totally unaware of this.

Thank God for my husband. We agreed this was not worth losing our peace over. After I took the thawed meat and salmon into the kitchen; he cleaned the blood off the shelves and floor.

What was I going to do? I didn’t want to waste what God had provided. The meat and salmon could be refrozen once it was cooked. I’m a happy housewife. There’s salmon, meat loaf, steak, roast of beef and pork, and hamburger, fully cooked and in the freezer ready for meals over the busy Christmas season. Mike and I laughed as we enjoyed steak and eggs this morning too. Not something we typically have for breakfast. Isn’t God good?

Kenneth Copeland Ministries Canada provides me with a lovely calendar each year. It hangs on the wall in the kitchen. I didn’t realize until later today what was on it for the month of December. The word PEACE is displayed in big letters, with the verse from Colossians 3:15 underneath. I love it when God gives me a confirmation.

I pray my testimony today gives you hope and encouragement, that no matter what comes our way, we can be thankful and allow the peace of Christ can rule in our hearts. God bless you all!
